Ping Tung University of Science and Technology is located at the Laobi Village, Neipu Township in Pingtung County, next to the Laobi Farm (property of the Taifong Company). The University is 15 kilometers away from Pingtung City. Elevation is between 70 to 100 meters. On the south eastern section of the campus lies the foot of the Dawu Mountain and across the headstream of the Donggang River. Dawu Mountain is one of the southern peaks of the majestic Central Mountains. Its linear ridges border the Pingtung plains.
The Classroom covers an area of 32 hectares, occupying 10% of the Ping Tung University’s school grounds. Before the Classroom was set up, the area was covered mostly by bamboo groves, abandoned fish ponds, mango trees, and other mixed variety of trees.
The area is characterized by its tropical climate and agriculture. It is also one of the major sites for research and experiment in soil and water conservation. The Soil and Water Conservation Outdoor Classroom has organized many educational activities in conjunction with research programs. There were activities organized especially for school groups with the aim to promote awareness for natural resources and environmental conservation.
